Rare antique Hadley original expandable gold filled bracelet, gold filled, new lobster claw clasp was added as the original was missing when found in old estate jewelry, the expandable bracelet opens and snaps shut just as it did over 100 years ago. I was so intrigued to learn the history of this piece, and thought it held something inside. This piece shows expected age/wear but is in wearable condition, 6” long.
In 1903 the Hadley Jewelry Company was founded by Art Hadley. Art invented the expansion bracelet during this same time and it was patented in 1913 patent No. 1066063. The expansion bracelet(like this one) was the forerunner for the expandable watch bands like we wear today. Hadley-Roma was and still is the leading manufacturer of expandable watch bands.
