Antique R.S. Prussia Open Handled Dish

Stunning vintage R.S. Prussia Open Handled Relish or Candy Dish from about 1900. Made of fine glazed porcelain china. This 120 year dish is pretty big: 12 1/2” long, 6” wide, 1 3/8” tall and weighs 12.8 ounces. No chips, cracks, or repairs. What’s also rare about this Art Nouveau Floral Rose Mold Dish is the Dimpling for 1/2” around the upper edges throughout, in shades of purple and green. These dimples are rare, collectible for R S Prussia, which stands for Reinhold Schlegelmilch, a Factory in Suhl, Germany (Northern Germany, known then as Prussia). This company only existed with this name and this “Red Mark” Hallmark from 1870 to 1918. The Rose Bouquet Motif is a mixture of pink, yellow, green, and white depictions of Roses, Daisies, and Greens. This Floral Picture was made by lithographic transfer, a “high tech” of that era. The Art Nouveau style is typical of the curving folds in this dish, those folds deepening towards the asymmetrical bold iridescent dimpled dish edges. Rare.
