Antique 1909 Romanian Textile Art Wool Floral Shawl Hand Tied Fringe Floral Pattern Maroon Pink Blue 128" x 43"

This shawl was brought trans Atlantic in 1910 by my great grandmother, my grandmother and her brother. They left their village of Checea and took the train from Timisoara to Flume,l Italy. They boarded the boat in Fiume, Italy to cross the Atlantic to Staten Island. They did well as my great grandmother was fluent in Romanian, Hungarian, German and Serbian.

While my grandmother was still living, I did a taped interview about our family's history and eventually a written history. The last photo is of my great grandmother holding my grandmother and uncle.

This shawl was amongst her most treasured items that made the trip. We have two of these shawls sold separately.

Absolutely beautiful printing of the design with jacquard weaving of the fabric and the scale of the flowers to the boarder confirms the age.
